Venturing into Frontend Development as a novice!

Published
2 min read

Let me start by saying this: This is my first blogpost and I am delirious with joy that I am finally doing this.

You might be wondering the reason for the excitement, my field is way out of web development, and I have never given web development a second thought. Though I have web developers as friends and I get fascinated by what they create.

The COVID Pandemic kind of prompted my liking for technology .The lockdown period in my country was the eye-opener that motivated me to learn web development! The constant-thought of diversifying into something that allows me to be creative with or without pandemic was on mind . Viola! I discovered that Web developers were the ones who could do what I had in mind.

Where to begin was a problem. Luckily, I joined a class, a guy advertised a bootcamp course for frontend development in a Telegram group I was in and I took the leap. It is worth noting that, I did not know what web development entails or the different fields to learn from; I just wanted to learn something entirely different from what I have known all my life.

Initially, I was thrilled by the fact that I could create something and it displayed on the browser. It felt like I hit a jackpot. The initial enthusiasm started wearing off as the class progressed. The whole thing was like Greek to me and the specter of failure was giving me great angst.

The tutor tried to help me, he even did video of solving a class assignment with just me but I still did not get it. I got frustrated at some point and neglected class and I didn't watch recorded videos. Fortunately, The fire had already been set, as I kept looking for frontend courses online, this was due to the fact that I hate to quit and I don't like to think of a particular thing as being too difficult for me to study.

I got some few free online courses but this only compounded the conundrum I was facing. I then called the bootcamp tutor who advised that I pay for an udemy course. I cannot thank him enough for heads-up. I paid for the course by Brad Hussey: Ultimate Web designer and web development course and I can confidently say the course simplified everything about web Development for me. I am still learning from the course because I have only completed photoshop, figma, html and beginner css.

I just want to encourage anyone out there that is finding it difficult to start learning coding, that they should not quit and keep learning.

Thank you for reading.
